Stephen worked on the home farm with Hiram(1179) for a time, and then
learned the shoemaker's trade; this he followed for a few years, only to be
drawn away by the glitter of gold in California. On his return from the west
he settled in Goshen, and afterward in Warwick, N.Y.
[379] Fred from what I could find out was born in either Crawford or Cooper Maine in Washington County. + I need to look for marriage certificates to find out his wife's maiden name.
