Alvin remained on the family farm owned by Jonathan(803) but was a
shoemaker rather than a farmer. After the death of Nancy(827) and his father
he lived mostly in Pittsfield village, returning to the farm for a short time
in summer. In september, 1881, he removed to Northwood, and the house was
never afterward occupied.
