[133] William was born in Londonderry, North of Ireland of Scotch parents. He went to Canada when he was about 14 years of age and is believed to have stayed with an Aunt or a friend of his parents. He also had a brother Robert living there too. He came down to Brooklyn N.Y. when that was still country and worked for a man who had a dairy. The name of the man he worked for is believed to be Suydam. He married Mary Francis Phillips the 4th. born in this country. He later bought a farm in Melville Long Island N.Y.. William was believed to be 78 years old when he died so if that is true he would have been born about 1836. William fought in the Civil war.
