[454] He settled on Harpswell Neck, Me., near the famous congregational meeting house. He was Deacon of that church for many years, and very faithful "in his Christian walk and life." He was Captain of a freighting vessel, which made trips from Harpswell, Me., to Boston, Mass., and intermediate ports. He carried cargoes of wood, and brought back from Boston loads of general merchandise. Mr. Ausbon Booker of Lisbon Falls, Me., has the ancient account book of ancestor James Booker. It also gives the records of his father, mother, and their family. A not from his journal states "My wife departed this life, the 3d day of Dec., 1765, about 3 o'clock in the morning, and the dear babe about 3 o'clock in the afternoon of the same day." Her slate headstone may still be seen, 1922, in the cemetery back of the old Harpswell Center, Maine, meeting house. It states she died in her 38th year.
