Deacon Ezekiel Soule, son of Joshua and Joanna (Studley) Soule, was born in Duxbury, Mass., Feb 17, 1711, married Hannah Delano, daughter of Jonathan and Hannah (Doten) Delano, Jan 4, 1733. He settled first in his native town as farmer and fisherman.
Like so many of his kindred he was in early life a seaman and was soon in command of his own ship. He was elected Deacon of the Congregational church of Duxbury, March 5, 1749, and was afterwards called "Deacon Soule," more out of respect for his Christian character than for the influence of the title.
